Finally arrived in Singapore for BILT Asia 2018 Conference

After for almost 20 hours of flight from London Heathrow Airport to Singapore Airport, we [because I brought my family with me for them to have their holiday while I’m in the conference] arrived sound and safe. Thank you for all our prayer warriors in making our trip safe.

Dealing with the Immigration officer was straightforward. We rented a taxi who delivered us from Singapore Airport to our rented hotel. Whilst on the road, I fell in love with the beauty of Singapore. We did not even encounter any traffic on the road (I should have taken some photos for you to see how beautiful is it traveling on their main highway).

Here are some photos I’ve taken so far:

Then I’ve met some of my fellow speakers in the event and, just like me, most of them are also the first timer in engaging in public speaking. I believe we will all be fine in delivering our respective sessions.

Looking forward to learning something new at this event.

Have a great day.

Cheers.

Proudly Speaking at BILT Asia 2018 – The Countdown is ON!

It’s time. The countdown is on. There’s less than a week until BILT Asia 2018, taking place at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

I have been working overseas for half of my lifespan and still working overseas. The fact that Singapore and Philippines are neighboring countries, this will be my first time in Singapore. The event will be one of a key milestone in my career that I will never forget, and for this, I would like to thank the BILT Asia 2018 Committees for the opportunity of being part of this event as the speaker. I’m only not coming to Singapore next week as a Speaker in the event but, to also spend my time with my family as a tourist. My children are now excited about their holiday, now that it coincides with their school break.

In the conference, I’ll be talking about “Structural Data Mining Using Revit-Dynamo-Power BI Workflow” and by attending my session, which will happen on 7th of April at 9:00 AM, you’ll learn:

First, the process of preparing your data using Revit Schedule.

Next, since Power BI works smoothly with Microsoft Excel, we will use Microsoft Excel to store the data mined information from Revit.

After that, we will create a simple Dynamo graph to automate the process of sending the data information from Revit to our spreadsheet, thus, eradicating potential human error caused by copy and pasting or manual typing.

Finally, we will bring our data to life, using Power BI. You’ll all gain a basic understanding of how to create your Power BI project if you haven’t done one yet.

I’ll concentrate on extracting the weight of the structure.

If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, please grab one now.

Please don’t forget to come to me to say “Hi” if you are one of my blog readers.

Proudly Speaking at BiLT Asia 2018

Hello everyone,

This year will be an exciting year for me. Since the Christmas break, I’ve been busy preparing for some personal stuff and now that it’s been finally submitted, I will begin in preparing handouts for this coming BiLT Asia 2018 to be held in Singapore on 5-7 April 2018. Though traveling from the UK to Singapore is expensive, however, even if I shoulder all the cost, gaining experience to an international event such as this will definitely a great stuff to accomplish personally. This event will be one of a key milestone in my career that I will never forget and for this, I would like to thank the BILT Asia 2018 Committees who voted to have my abstract accepted to be one of the topics in this conference.

Last week, just by accident, I came across Adam Grant 2016 TED’s Talk speech about ‘The surprising habit of original thinkers’ and what hooked me to continue listening to his speech was when he mentioned about ‘You don’t have to be the first, you just have to be different and better’. This is somehow relevant to what I’ll be presenting in the BILT Asia 2018 conference because my presentation started from curiosity to an existing process used in sales. This curiosity leads to an insight. It leads me to see something valuable about it which I can apply in my industry. By developing the process using the available tools we use in our day to day work, I came up with a work-flow which I’m already using in some of the projects I am involved with. You can watch this work-flow to be presented to you live this coming April 2018.

If you want to join me in the live demonstration and want to find out more, please grab your ticket now by visiting the link below:

If you happen to be in Singapore between April 5-7, 2018 or if some of you are planning to attend the event, don’t forget to grab me and say hi!. I will be pleased to meet you.

I am looking forward to learning new stuff in this event.

Cheers,

Allan Cantos
